Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil
The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil during November, as confirmed by palace sources.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The royal pair were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.
Environmental Advocacy Commitment
The King has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the UN meeting.
Official representatives have described the Prince's participation at the next COP as taking on an important role in "environmental negotiations".
Recent Engagements
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed attendees such as environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.
This engagement featured addresses alongside French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco during the current year.
Environmental Prize Link
The UN meeting will align with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the climate conference on 6 November.
Recently the royal figure described the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".
Royal Climate Legacy
The monarch has been a influential participant at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats confronting humanity over global warming, climate change and ecological decline," the monarch informed delegates.
